Committee will begin public hearings in the new year.
The House of Representatives select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the Capitol is set to release an interim report on its findings by the summer of 2022. The committee also plans to begin holding public hearings in the new year “to tell the story of the insurrection from start to finish while crafting an ample interim report on its findings.” In addition, the committee is weighing whether to propose legislative measures to “help prevent valid election results from being overturned in the future.”
Meanwhile, the committee will defer its requests for certain documents after the president’s administration argued in favor of shielding them.
While President Biden’s administration has mostly rejected executive privilege requests and turned documents over to the panel, the White House counsel’s office argued in a letter dated December 16 that certain documents do not apply to the investigation and should remain protected.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the January 6 select committee as they continue their investigation into the incident at the Capitol.
- For discernment for Congress as legislation is considered regarding election results.
